Constantine
Constantine was the son of Constantius and his concubine, Helena.
When Constantine was emperor, between 306 and 337 ACE, he united all Romans under Christianity. He did not make Christianity the official religion and said that you had to be Christian, however he did say that you had to agree that the Christian God was the highest God.
Romans started abusing Christianity when it became apparent that Constantine would hire people for higher positions in the government if they were Christian, by saying they were Christian, even though they were not.
This lead to a very corrupt government and, in people's eyes, a very corrupt Christianity. The leaders of the land would change something that was not very popular and then say that the Christian God wanted it to happen.
